Recount - Kayaking at Camp
Kayaking
Uggghhh! I was paddling too fast down the river. As I tried to stop I paddled too hard on the left side and crashed into the right hand side of the river. My heart was pumping as fast as a cheetah. I was so glad I didn’t fall into the freezing cold water.
My heart nearly stopped, I had a mini heart attack. The first thought that came to my mind was “ Am I going to fall in? “ I knew that I would but amazingly I didn’t. My heart finally started to calm down, it was beating at a normal rate but I was still shaking.
I look down at my leg and it was bleeding. My thigh was bloody and it ran down to my sock. I quickly got abit of water and wiped down my leg very slowly, I found out that I had a small cut and I knew I would have a little scar.
I felt little splashes of water when I crashed, It was glacial. The splashes were an estimate of a raindrop but i’m not sure. I only had a glimpse of them, and the drops just dissolved. It quickly vanished.
Lavinia was the only one who had seen me, luckily. I felt ashamed of myself, but to be honest we’re best friends and we mocked each other about silly things like that anyway. First we both laughed and then I asked her for help. She grabbed my kayak while I pushed myself away from the thorn bush with my paddle.
The water was so cold, but I enjoyed myself a lot. Kayaking was the most interesting activity because I enjoy water sports and activities in the water. I would love to do it again. But next time I’ll be a bit more cautious about going too fast.
